BETHPAGE SOCCER TEAM
WINS DIVISION
With only three returning seniors
most coaches would only be talking
about "rebuilding." Not
coaches Joe and Mike Quigley.
They have put together a team
with great speed, tight defense,
and solid goaltending to win their
division with a 10-2 record; the first
division title for the Golden Eagles
since 1986.
Leading the way is senior captain,
and high scorer, Keith Quigley.
Two other seniors contributing are
assistant captain and outstanding
defenseman Keith Kosak and
forward Justin Oblitz.
Speedy juniors Mike Scarpelli and
Charlie Omage can score from
anywhere on the ice. Chris Cuciti,
another outstanding junior, is an
excellent defenseman, and is an
anchor in .penalty killing situations.
Super sophomores adding
to the team's success are defen-semen
Dave Kelly, John Menz,
Darren Feller; and forwards Brian
Colleluori, Andrew Miracolo, Mike
Hacker and Vinnie Negila.
New additions to the team this
season are quick skating freshman
Matthew Miracolo and the versatile
Robby Haga. Another pleasant
surprise is eighth-grader Eddie
Franco. Goaltending has been a
steady positive all season with
netminders Mike Arden and John
Lagnese.
The future looks very bright for the
Golden Eagles. An added plus for
the squad is its intelligence. 12
team members are on the Blue/
Gold Honor Roll.
In the Semi-finals, Bethpage
defeated Plainview in 2 straight
games, 9-2 & 4-3 (in overtime), and
will play Massapequa for the
overall championship. The first of
our final championship games is
on Mon., Feb. 14th, at 4 P.M.
Please come and support your
team at Bethpage Community
Park.
