S2 ZONE SUPPORTED
OYSTER BAY TOWN Councilman
Leonard Kunzig (left) and
Town Attorney John Venditto look
over some of the more than 3,000
letters, petition signatures and
phone messages the Councilman
has received in support of the
Town's new "S-2" Golden Age
zone, a concept he introduced to
the Town Board. Two applications
have already been heard by the
Town Board asking for a change
of zone to S-2. One in Bethpage,
which will have 52 units, has
already been approved. Decision
on another, in Massapequa, is
pending and developers are looking
at potential sites in several
other communities, as well. Under
the "S-2," which allows for a
slightly higher density than other
residential zones, the developer
will construct one- and two-bedroom
units that will be reasonably
priced and have smaller tax
and utility bills than most houses
seniors now occupy. The housing
will be restricted to individuals and
married couples with at least one
spouse over the age of 62. The
developer's plan must provide for
maintenance, operation and
administration of the complex.
Residents who would like further
information on "S-2" housing can
call Councilman Kunzig's office at
624-6300.

STIHm BLOW AT GRAFFITI
During the week of November
13 through 19, civic organizations,
chambers of commerce, Kiwanis
clubs, Rotary Clubs and other
organizations too numerous to
mention will be striking a blow
against graffiti.
"In the Town of Oyser Bay the
time has come to reclaim our
neighborhoods from graffiti vandals,"
stated Oyster Bay Town Clerk Carl
L. Marcellino, who is coordinating
the project. "During the week of
November 13 through 19, groups
from virtually every community in
our Town will be out^there cleaning
up the mess left by graffiti
vandals. Our goal is to roll up our
sleeves, man our scrub and paint
brushes and take back our
neighborhoods."
To join this Towwnwide effort,
contact Town Clerk Marcellino at
624-6332. He will direct you to the
groups participating in your
community.
"The Town of Oyster Bay is a
gleaming suburban gem rimmed
on two sides by sky blue waters,"
Mr. Marcellino said. "It is not a
chalk board for graffiti vandals.
Let's show them that we will not
tolerate this kind of behavior in our
communities. The battle against
graffiti is a battle we can, and will,
win!"
A SHOW OF LOVE
On Sept. 29th the Charles Cam-pagne
PTA started the school year
off by sponsoring a very special
program called "Show of Love."
The focus of the program was to
stress the importance of a positive
self-image and the importance of
liking yourself. Also stressed was
the need to treat everyone as an
individual with unique values and
talents. Everyone participated in
this very lively high-spirited program
and left with the message
that everyone has feelings and
needs to be treated properly. As
a sign that everyone is special the
CC PTA presented each student
and teacher with a "Show of Love"
button. This program was the first
in a series of CC PTA Cultural Arts
presentations that will take place
during the school year. These
programs are made possible
through the generous support of
our PTA fundraising efforts.
