MATT SILVER: 1995 SMALL BUSINESSPERSON OF THE YEAR
Presenting Matthew Silver with his award are Thomas Gulotta, Nassau

of Commerce President and Fred Parolla, Nassau Cour'y Comptroller.
Pictured here with Matthew Silver are fellow Bethpage Chamber of
Commerce Members Dennis Brady, President; Carole Ann Catapano,

There are many business
owners in our community who
may be regarded as successful.
Many of them are making their
respective businesses profitable
and thriving. However, to truly
also examine what he does for the
community in which he operates.
Bethpage is proud to have a man
who not only heads an extremely
successful limousine corporation
but also has proven to be a vital
part of the Bethpage community
as well as to all of Long Island.
Matthew Silver, owner of Ultimate
Class Limousine in Bethpage, was
recently honored by the Nassau
Council of Chambers of Commerce
as the 1995 Small Business
Person of the Year. He is a charter
member of the Bethpage Chamber
of Commerce and has been on the
Board of Directors for the past five
years. He is also very involved in
many other charitable organizations
such as the Muscular Dystrophy
Association, Juvenile Diabetes
Foundation, Make-A-Wish
Foundation, Child Abuse Prevention,
WLIW Channel 21 and
Winthrop University Hospital.
If all that sounds like Mr.
Silver has one busy schedule you
should also know that he takes
time to help out the Arthritis
Foundation and appeared on
their telethon just last month.
Professionally, he has been a
member of the Nassau-Suffolk
Limousine Association since 1990
and he is also a member of the
L.I. Business Travelers Association.
Matt always tries to offer his
clients the best and most professional
service for which the name
Ultimate Class Limousine has
become synonymous with.
Matt and his wife Lisa have two
children, Justin and Joseph, and
reside in Bethpage as well.
When we asked Matt about his
recent selection as NCCCC Small
Business Person of the Year he
said "It is quite an honor and I was
very proud to receive this award.
I have always felt that in order to
be a successful business person
you must become a part of the
community you serve." And that
is precisely what Mr. Silver has
done. He has not only created a
quality and professional limousine
fleet but also has given back to his
community and the people who
comprise it. Congratulations, to
Bethpage's own Matthew Silver
and his family.
MAY 14-20 MARKS NATIONAL EMS WEEK
measure success one
should not merely look at a profit
margin. While it is important to see
how an entrepreneur succeeds and
how he makes the most out of his
talents or business, one should If
National Emergency Medical'
Services Week, a celebration to
honor the 750,000 EMS providers
who deliver lifesaving care in the
United States, is scheduled for
May 14-20, 1995. This year's
theme, "E.M.S.: We're There For
Life", emphasizes the significant
role of emergency care providers.
The objectives of EMS Week are:
1. Educate the public about the
EMS system & its use.
2. Help Americans recognize &
respond to medical emergencies.
3. Encourage prevention of
illness & injury.
4. Show appreciation for all
members of the EMS team.
The Bethpage Volunteer Fire
Department is quite active in the
delivery of emergency medical
care in our community. During the
past year we have made a number
of improvements in our EMS operation.
These improvements
include the purchase of four semiautomatic
defibrillators for use by
specially trained Emergency Medical
Technicians (EMT); pediatric
advanced life support training and
equipment for use by our
Advanced EMTs and Paramedics;
the operation of a quick response
medic car and the successful
completion of a NYS Certified First
Responder's class (held here in
Bethpage) by 20 of our members.
Recognizing that CPR is a skill that
everyone should learn, our "Junior
Firefighters" (age 13-17) completed
their CPR course.
According to Bethpage Fire
Chief Anthony Mancini, "The men
and women in this field deserve
to be recognized and honored for
their efforts. EMS Week is an
opportunity to say thanks".
