Nassau County Police Commissioner
Donald F. Kane announced
that the Department has started to
receive new ambulances which will
be used throughout the county.
Some of the improvements the
new ambulances will offer are:
• Better handling on the
roadways due to increased
weight and better distribution
of equipment.-
• Medical equipment and
supplies will now be accessible
from both inside and
outside of vehicle and increased
storage space
overall.
• Loading and unloading of
patients will be easier with
an improved trundle.
• Medical technicians will
have more room inside the
ambulance making it easier
to tend to their patients.
• When the vehicle needs replacement
we will be able to
move the ambulance module
to a new vehicle saving
the cost of a complete new
ambulance.
The department has ordered a
total of 19 ambulances of which 9
have been received to date. The
ambulances will be distributed
throughout the county as they are
equipped and after department
members receive additional training
in the operation of the new vehicles.
