Rain Didn't Dampen Memorial Day Tribute
The weather was anything but
cooperative, but rain or shine the
spirit of Bethpage's Memorial Day parade
was brighter than the sunniest
day of summer. Hundreds of organizations,
children and groups gathered
together to march but unfortunately
thunder, lightning and rain
prohibited the walkers to parade. Our
Police Dept., Fire Department, BHS
Band and antique cars along with the
VFW, American Legion and Ladies
Auxiliary were the only groups who
were able to manage the horrible ||
weather, ,^
What amazed me however was
that despite the storm...spectators
still linedthe streets. They waved,
they smiled and they battled the
drops underneath their umbrellas all
in honor of our veterans. It was that
show of support...that show of pride
and spirit that is so fitting to honor our
veterans. The sacrifices they made for
us in the name of our country are too
numerous too mention. Their dedication
and commitment to our country
never ever stopped even when their
lives were on the line. Rain didn't stop
our veterans and I am so proud to say
it didn't stop Bethpage either.
Congratulations to the entire
Bethpage Memorial Day parade committee
for their tireless efforts in ensuring
Bethpage of a wonderful parade
each year. And a huge thank you
goes out to all those umbrella clad
spectators who surely prove that they
Wilj never forget our wonderful veterans.
