$6,000 In Scholarships
New Bethpage Senior
Community Center
On duly 30th. The Bethpage club
awarded 6 $1,000 Scholarships to local
high schoor student. The students
anci their guest were invited to the
Rotary's weekly luncheon where the
jiMcKs "were awarded. This year, the
;cfub^;rajsed an enormous amount of
money through its fund raising efforts
which were mainly the swim a thon
and the Bethpage day Yankee game.
Given the success of these fund raisers,
the club was able to give out the
most money in scholarship in its history.

Nassau County Executive Thomas S. Gulotta, Presiding Officer
Bruce Blakeman and Legislator Edward Mangano visited the site of the
new Bethpage Senior/Community Center that will be operated by Nassau
County for use by local senior citizens clubs and community
groups. Located on the former Grumman property in Bethpage, the facility
is expected to open in the fall of 1998. Pictured reviewing construction
plans are (from the left): Presiding Officer Blakeman, Wil-helmina
Vollmerhausen - Vice-President of Bethpage Senior Citizens,
Legislator Mangano, Otto Vollmerhause and County Executive Gulotta.

Town of OySter Bay Supervisor John Venditto stopped by the Archie
McCord American Legion Post #86 Membership at the Bethpage
Chamber of Commerce Summer Festival last weekend. The Legionnaires
tried to recruit Mr. Venditto but the Supervisor is a member of
the Massapequa American Legion Post #1066. From left to right are:
