Bethpage HS Hosts Senior Citizen Prom
The Bethpage High School
Student Council hosted a Senior
Citizen Prom on May 18. Over 300
senior citizens from the community
were in attendance for an afternoon
of dining, dancing and fun.
The students, with help from
volunteer staff members, prepared
and served a tasty buffet for dinner,
consisting of a variety of foods.
Dessert and coffee were also
served. A DJ was in attendance,
playing some of the best oldies as
senior citizens danced the
afternoon away under a bevy of
balloons that spruced-up the high
school gymnasium. The theme was
Mardi Gras, so everyone was
wearing beads to get into the spirit
of the theme. Each couple and/or
attendee was given the opportunity
to have a Polaroid photograph taken
as a souvenir.
Bethpage Senior Citizen Center
Director Helen Berghmans praised
the Bethpage School District,
particularly the students, and
advisors Wendy Way and Jessica
Berr, for coordinating this afternoon
for Bethpage's senior citizens.
