SERVING BETHPAGE, ISLAND TREES, OLD BETHPAGE, PLAINVIEW, SEAFORD AND PLAINEDGE \A
VOL 41 NO. 35 September 19-25, 2003 FORTY CENTS
Remembering the Victims of 9/11
On September 11, 2003, all five
schools in the Bethpage School
District held a moment of silence in
memory of the victims of the attacks
on our nation. At Charles Campagne
Elementary School, members of the
Butehorn Brothers VFW Post 4987
of Bethpage led students in a recital
of the Pledge of Allegiance. The
ceremony was held in Campagne's
Memorial Garden, which was
dedicated to those who perished in
the attacks on the World Trade
Center, the Pentagon, and aboard
Flight 93 that crashed over
Pennsylvania. This included two
members of the Campagne school
community. Normally, classes rotate
reciting the pledge over the school
public address system every
morning, but on this 2 year
anniversary of the tragedy, the
entire school said the pledge in
unison, led by Bud Steubing of Post
4987.
