Bethpage High School Varsity Golden Girls
Win Two Long Island Championships
BHS Varsity Golden Girls with Championship Trophies.
Awesome, Amazing, Unbelievable, Incredible. That's what everyone
was saying as the Bethpage Varsity Golden Girls competed in the
1999 Long Island Kicline Association Championships held at SUNY
OLD Westbury on March 28th.
The Championship was the final event in a series of competitions
throughout the year. Teams from across Long Island were represented.
The Championships field was made up of winners from the previous
competitions. After many months of practicing, performing at football
and basketball games and competing, the Golden Girls were ready to
take the floor for their final competition of the season. Complete with
cowbells and horns, the cheering section from Bethpage was loud and
supportive.
True to their name, the BHS Golden Girls were spectacular. They
competed in both the Varsity Kicline and Pom divisions. As the awards
were announced, a great season came to a triumphant end as the team
won both the 1999 LIKA Varsity Kicline and Varsity Pom Championships.
This is the first time the Golden Girls have won the two LIKA
Championships in the same season!! After a short break, the Golden
Girls will be hard at work again preparing for next year's competition
and show season. So if you see a Golden Girl in town be sure to congratulate
her on a job well done.
