YOUR OFFICIAL HOMETOWN NEWSPAPER
VOL 33 NO. 18 May 7 -May 13,1999 40 CENTS
TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME!
Saturday May 1, 1999 was a
Glorious Day for Bethpage Baseball.
Bethpage P.A.L. and B.B.A.I,
held a ceremony to celebrate the
opening of the New Meade Ave.
Park, home of Bethpage Baseball.
The ceremony was emceed by
Ernie Lentini and Tom Signa who
led the quest to bring our children
this beautiful tournament style facil
ity.
Bethpage P.A.L. and B.B.A.I,
honored and thanked Town of Oys
ter Bay Supervisor John Venditto.
Supervisor Venditto threw out the
first pitch and really came through
"in the clutch". As this field would still
be a dream were it not for his commitment
and dedication to our children.
Bethpage's own legislator Ed
Mangano was present and reminisced
about his days as a Bethpage
Little Leaguer. Thank you Ed
Mangano for celebrating with us.
A special thank you goes out to
Bethpage P.A.L. Police Officer
Doug Kenah, who goes above and
beyond the call of duty for our children.
Officer Kenans' leadership
and support for the P.A.L. is second
to none.
Cub Scout Pack 603 led off our
ceremony with our pledge of Allegiance
perfectly recited by; Alex
Benenati, Michael Millan, Kevin
Miller and Andrew Sengstacken.
Thank you Pack 603.
The fabulous Central Boulevard
Elementary School choir represented
by Kristen Balfour, Morgan
Essig, Chelsea Lyle, Danielle
McKeown, and Kara Shelly performed
a beautiful rendition of our
National Anthem. Thank you girls -
next stop Yankee Stadium.
The opening game at the New
Meade Ave Park between Drobeck-ers
Plumbing (coached by Ron
McDunnell) featured some of Beth-page's
finest ballplayers, all of
whom played a great game. The
slugfest was won by Hardmans
Automotive, led by Danny Lentini
who slugged the first ever Hr/Grand
blam at the New Meade Ave Park.
Other stars included: Sean McDonnell,
Ernie Constantine, Eric Sengstacken
and T.J. Signa.
Thank you goes out to Charlie
at Unique Impressions who donated
his time and embroidering skills to
help make this day a success.
