Remembering
When
In 1939 Bethpage was home to a new and entertaining
group of musicians called the BETHPAGIANS. this photo was
given to the Tribune and we were furnished with some of the
names of the band members. Perhaps you can help in our
who's who of the BETHPAGIANS search. We believe that some
of the members were Ed Schaff, John Mancuse, Everett Baldwin,
Nick Leo and Jim Klinkenhoff. If you recognize anyone in
this photo or know about the BETHPAGIANS write to the
TRIBUNE, c/o Remember When, 329 Broadway, Bethpage N.Y.

Putting Bethpage Water
To The Test
BETHPAGE, NY, APRIL 16,
1999 - Will water from the Bethpage
Water District be named "Best
Tasting" in Nassau County?
The competition is sponsored
each year by the Long Island Water
Conference, a trade association of
Nassau-Suffolk's public water suppliers,
jn honor of National Drinking
Water Week.
The Broadway Mall in Hicksville
will host the organization's eleventh
annual tap water tasting contest
from Sunday, May 2 through
Thursday, May 6 between 10 a.m.
and 4 p.m. Shoppers will participate
in a blind taste test to determine
which Nassau County tap water is
the most delicious.
Always the first full week of May,
National DrinkingWater Week was
started to raise awareness of the
quality and quantity of local tap water
supplies. Unfortunately, the public
is too often the victim of misinformation
when it comes to drinking
water. In an effort to set the record
straight, a special display ana water
experts will be on hand to provide
information and answer consumers'
questions.
"Long Islanders have tap water
that is among the best in thd nation,"
said LIWC Chairperson Paul
Granger. "While everyone uses the
water, most people don't give a
second thought to where it domes
from. Public water suppliers work
hard to consistently provide a safe
and tasty product to their customers."
The Long Island Water Conference,
established in 1951, is a professional
organization dedicated to
providing and maintaining an adequate
and safe public water supply
system on Long Island. Merrjbers
include Nassau-Suffolk's public water
suppliers, consulting engineers,
attorneys, water contractors- and officials
from governmental regulatory
agencies.
Let The Parade Begin
There will be a Memorial Day meeting on Wednesday April 28, at 7:30
p.m. at the Bethpage Fire House on Broadway.
It is that special time of year that we set aside one day at the erjd of
the month of May which is known Nationwide as MEMORIAL DAY.
This is a day that we pay special tribute to all the men & women of our
nation who gave their lives to defend our country, It is a day that we remember
the nineteen young men from our town who paid the ultimate
sacrifice.
It is important that all organizations attend the meeting to let the
committee know who is parading, also to give names of organizations who
would like to place wreaths at Memorial Day Services at the Bethpade Park
on May 31 at 11 o'clock.
This year we are inviting young & old to join the parade, with decorated
bikes to honor our deceased veterans. More information will follow to those
who intend to ride bikes in parade.
Lets make this parade the best ever.
Unfortunately parades cost money, we are asking our town people for
a donation if possible to support the parade.
If you would like to make a donation to the parade please fill out coupon
below. Make check payable to Bethpage Memorial Day Committee
