Bethpage Water Wins Big As Best fasting Water On All
Of Long Island
In a tap-to-tap taste off, tap
water provided by the Bethpage
Water District was recently declared
the best tasting on Long Island,
defeating the Suffolk County Water
Authority.
Both public water suppliers took
their county titles in the 1999 Best
Tasting Tap Water Contest,
sponsored this past May by the
Long Island Water Conference,
when hundreds of shoppers at the
Walt Whitman and Broadway malls
sampled water from Nassau-
Suffolk's public water supply in a
blind taste test.
The contest to select the Long
Island champion was judged by
Nassau County Legislator Edward
Mangano, Suffolk County Legislator
Angie Carpenter and New York
State Senator Carl Marcellino at the
Weeping Willow Restaurant in
Farmingdale.
"Although the Bethpage Water
District takes home the title and

Chairperson Paul Granger.

and Suffolk County Water Authority
will go ofi to represent their
respective counties in the statewide
taste contest, which will be held
later this^ summer.
