BETHPA GE:
ITS YOUR TURN
TO SEND A LITTLE LOVE
I have always said that Bethpage is a community with a great big
heart. Well, here is your chance to prove it. I am sure that most
everyone by now has heard about a very special Bethpage resident
named Joan Poppe. She is a member of the American Legion Ladies
Auxiliary and the Bethpage Memorial Day Parade Committee. She is a
community activist and she is deeply dedicated to Veterans affairs.
Joan Poppe, however, is best know for being a loving wife, dedicated
mother and a special and wonderful grandma. She has also adopted a
bunch of other children and treats them as her own always sending a
birthday card, Halloween candy or Holiday treats. She is amazing.
Joan also as I mentioned above is extremely dedicated to making sure
that our Veterans are always remembered. She each week, runs a
special ad in the Tribune giving an address for residents to send cards
and letters to keep our servicemen's moral high and in good spirits.
Well, now you see it is Joan's spirits that need to be lifted a bit. Joan
underwent back surgery 2 weeks ago. She made it through the surgery
quite well yet she developed a secondary infection that is causing her
great pain and will require her to stay in the hospital for up to six
weeks. Now that could dampen anyone's spirits. Let's show Joan how
much we love her and make sure she is not forgotten. I urge ALL
RESIDENTS who read this newspaper to send Joan a card or a letter
wishing her well. Your 33 cent postage and greeting card will mean
the world to her. She is therefor all of us here in Bethpage with her
thoughtfulness, patriotic nature and loving heart. Well now it is our
turn. We in Bethpage have to show her what we are really made of.
This time she needs our help and this time we need to do something for
her. So drop this amazing lady a note or a card. Let her know the
community with the great big heart is thinking about her. How
wonderful and deserving it will be for Joan to get a little of the love
that she gives to so many back in return. Send your cards and letters
to MERCY HOSPITAL, 1000 North Village Avenue, Rockville Centre,
New York 11570. Attention: Joan Poppe, Room 233. Do it TODAY!!!
