The Devil Made Them Do It In Bethpage
An amazing amount of work goes into the filming of a movie and the
set work, which was constructed for the filming of "The Devil and
Daniel Webster", was quite a task. Pictured above Alec Baldwin
explains just some of the steps in the construction process.
Lights, Camera, Action! All the glamour and excitement of
Hollywood has headed east. That's right, a little bit of Hollywood has
made its way onto the once abandoned Grumman property. Devil
Productions, a company that can and should boast Alec Baldwin as
it's pilot has set up production in the old plant 3 building and is
fdming his new movie, the classic "The Devil and Daniel Webster"
which stars Alec Baldwin, Anthony Hopkins and Jennifer Love
Hewitt. In the film Baldwin plays a writer who sells his soul to the
devil, played by Jennifer Love Hewitt but then employs a silver-tongued
lawyer, played by Anthony Hopkins to win it back from
eternal damnation. I had the privilege of stopping by the set earlier
last week and was amazed at just how this film is being shot. The
detailed set work is unbelievable and includes an actual barn, which
was constructed inside the old aircraft manufacturing building. I was
fascinated at just how much detailed work is going into the filming of
this movie, from the actual on-site filming to the canvassing of sites for
off-premises filming. Alec Baldwin gave us the grand tour and if things
couldn t get more exciting we ran into Anthony Hopkins who chomped
at the bit (a little Hannibal humor) to stop for a moment and say
cheese for our camera. The idea of films being made right here in
Bethpage is an exciting idea. With New York C 'ity and its endless
amount oj talented actors a mere 40 miles away this huge facility is
just made to shoot movies in. Alec Baldwin, a Long Island boy, is
enthusiastic, to say the least at the notion oj other productions being
shot at the Bethpage location ( ertainh everyone in Bethpage will be
proud to head on out to the movies to see "The Devil and Daniel
Webster" since it was filmed right in their own backyard and we all
are elated that the "Devil" made them film it right here in Bethpage!
Nassau County Legislator, Edward Mangano poses with Alec
Baldwin and Anthony Hopkins as they take a break from filming a
new movie "The Devil and Daniel Webster" which is being filmed in
Bethpage at the once abandoned Grumman property. Alec Baldwin's
Devil Productions chose the plant 3 site as he felt it was a wonderful
location to shoot his film. Mangano said " I am elated to see that life
has returned to this once empty building and we all should be
especially excited and happy that Alec Baldwin has chosen this site
to film his new movie venture". Mangano and Baldwin discussed
the idea of increasing film production at site in the future.
Safe to say he doesn V bite! Linda Mangano is all smiles as she says
cheese with Anthony Hopkins on the set of "The Devil and Daniel
Webster. Hopkins new movie Hannibal opens in theaters every* hen
this weekend.
