Bethpage Hosts Annual
Memorial Day Parade
This year's parade brings out hundreds of spectators and participants
The 2002 Memorial Day
Parade was a huge success in
spite of the many changes, which
had to be made regarding the
parade route and ceremony
clocation. Each year Bethpage's
parade marches down Stewart
Avenue and then hosts a
ceremony in the Bethpage
Community Park. This year
however, due to the fact that the
Community Park is closed for
soil testing, the parade route
needed to be changed and
marchers and spectators gathered
at the Bethpage High School
football field for the traditional
ceremony.
This year's parade was one of
the largest parades Bethpage has
hosted. Flags were proudly flying,
everywhere and the streets of
Broadway and Stewart Avenue
were lines with cheering folks
eager to pay tribute to our
courageous Veterans. The parade
was jam packed with members of
virtually every organization in
Bethpage and the young and
young at heart marched proudly
through town.
Special thanks goes out to the
Memorial Day parade committee
who work tirelessly to insure that
this parade takes place each year.
We salute their dedication as
well as salute and pay tribute to
all of our Veterans who gave of
themselves for all of us and our
country. see page n
