AUGUST 16-22, 2002
VOL. 40 NO. 33 SERVING BETHPAGE, ISLAND TREES, OLD BETHPAGE, PLAINVIEW, SEAFORD AND PLAINEDGE FORTY CENTS
ummer Festival 2002
The Bethpage Chamber of
Commerce Summer Festival
2002 was by far the most
successful event that the
Chamber has ever hosted. The
two -day annual event was jam
packed with residents and friends
who came out to partake in an
event that has truly become a
Bethpage tradition. And it is a
tradition that has been made
possible by the support and
generosity of some very special
Bethpage corporations. This
year's sponsors include
Cablevision, New Island
Hospital, Bethpage Federal
Credit Union, Northrop
Grumman Corporation,
Briarcliffe College, Bank of
New York, King Kullen
Supermarkets, Fleet Bank and
Citibank. Their overwhelming
support of our community as
well as for the Bethpage
Chamber of Commerce is much
appreciated. Without their help
this event would never be able to
be held.
The Chamber is also very
grateful to Newton and Son's
Amusements. They are
extremely professional and
provide the Chamber with
courteous staff, safe and clean
rides and some really fun games.
The Chamber also must thank the
Woody Mack Band whose
performance on Friday evening
was spectacular. The highlight of
the festival this year was the
totally awesome, unbelievably
spectacular fireworks display
(thanks Dennis!) presented by
Bay Fireworks. To say that they
were fantastic is truly an
understatement. They lit up the
skies with their gorgeous
pyrotechnic flair and after their
mind blowing grand finale the
crowd literally cheered and
applauded with delight. The only
word to describe it is WOW!!
There are many, many people
to thank for the success of this
festival. First off, the Town of
Oyster Bay and their workers
must be thanked for providing us
with the location and Workforce
to get everything under control.
We have to thank all the
dedicated men and women of the
Bethpage Chamber of Commerce
who donated countless hours
helping out in any way they
could. These Chamber members
were not manning their own
booths, they were far too busy
volunteering for the Chamber in
any capacity that they could and
it is their dedication that made
this event such a huge success.
There are many other people to
thank who are not Chamber
members, but who helped all
evening long whether it was in
the selling of soda, collecting
garbage, helping with the stage
or in the ticket booth. These
volunteers truly made the
difference in this festival.
You see, this event is a
Bethpage event and while folks
come from all over to be a part of
these two special days it is the
community of Bethpage that
truly deserves the praise for
coming out year after year and
insuring its success. Profits made
by this festival are used to fund
many projects that the Chamber
sponsors. Those projects include
the Chamber's Banner
Program, Scholarship Fund,
Beautification Project,
Informational Booklet and
Special thanks to
fireworks. This dis
Bay Fireworks who filled the night sky with phenominal
play was by far the best the Chamber has ever had. WOW!
Holiday Lighting Program.
Your participation and the
support of our generous sponsors
insures that these
continue year after year. So thank
programs will
you Bethpage Chamber and
thank you Bethpage for a five
star absolutely fantastic Summer
Festival 2002. It's gonna' be
really hard to top that one!!!!
