History in the Making
Plainedge Middle School
Opens It's Doors

On hand for the opening of the new Plainedge Middle
School are representatives from the School Board along with
Senator Kemp Hannon, Ralph Raymond, Ellen Ryder, Board
President Richard Mallow, Legislator Ed Mangano, Loretta
Giardina, Superintendent John Richman, Douglas Pascarella,
Mary Ann Karageorges and Assemblyman Joe Saladino.

It was a historic day for the
Plainedge community as the
Plainedge Superintendent Dr.
John Richman, Board of
Education members, teachers,
staff, students and the entire
community cut the ribbon on
their new Plainedge Middle
School.
It was in 1964 that Plainedge
approximately 900 students.
The festivities began with a
parade from the Packard School
to the new Plainedge Middle
School, which is located on

Body Found in Bethpage
The body of a Hispanic male
in his mid 20's to early 30's was
found at the sump basin in the
vicinity ofNorcross Ave. and
Revere Ave. in Bethpage. A local
resident who was walking his
dog found the body, which was
shot in the head execution style
and immediately notified the
police. This took place at
approximately 8am on September
2L The victim was found in the
sump area and was wearing a
gray and white athletic shirt with
white cargo pants and sneakers.
He did not have any
identification on him. As of yet
there has been no missing
person's report to fit this
description. Police believe that
the victim was dead for
approximately 24 hours before
being found and they also feel as
though the victim was shot in the
area in which he was found.
There appeared to be other
gunshot wounds or stabbings in
addition to the gunshot in his
head. Several residents in the
vicinity of the sump basin have
stated that they heard gunshots
during the night although these
claims have not yet been
confirmed to be related to this
murder.
The strange coincidence
however in this murder is that
