With the Marine color guard in the
lead, the marchers were greeted
with cheers, waves and lots of
smiles. Veterans' groups followed
on foot and in the
parade car. The Leatherneck Pipes
and Drums, a new addition who
traveled all the way from southern
New Jersey, followed the colors.
They commented after the parade
that they were overwhelmed by the
cheers they received throughout
the entire route.
Grand Marshal, Gary Bretton and
Maureen O'Brien
his family were piped along the
parade route by the Marines - an
appropriate choice as Gary is a
former Marine. Friends, neighbors
and customers lined th<=> route,
cheering Gary and his family a
passed. The cheers were for a man
who has made a difference in this
community...a difference in many
people's lives.
The elected officials, former
Grand Marshals and the Bethpage
High School band were next
