Bethpage Turns GREEN With Pride
Hundreds of Residents Take Part in St. Bethpage's Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 5
Three cheers for the 2006 Grand Marshal, John Joyce and his wife.

service the parade began to make its
ua_\ down Central Avenue and
looped its way around the downtown
area. Led by this year's Grand
Marsha!., John Joyce, this year's
parade hosted many groups and
organizations as well as several pipe
bands.

Veteran's organizations, local Girl
Scout ii oops, the Bethpage i ligh
School Marching Hand. Central Park
Historical Society, Bethpage Watei
Districl Bethpage lore Department,

the clergy, local govermenl officials,
antique cars and even Theordore
Roosevelt. h imsel f
and onward to Broadwaj where they
paraded in front of the reviewing stand.
Elementary School groups, civic
groups and local merchants all took part
in this years event which boasted an
impressive amount of paraders.
Everyone's"s favorite, however, is always
those fabulous pooches of the Canine
Brigade.
This labor o( love is not an easy task
to accomplish and much thanks should be
given to the entire Bethpage St. Patrick's
Day Parade Committee. Their efforts year
alter year ensure that this parade gets off
the ground and has made this parade a
treasured tradition m Bethpage.
Altci the event a reception was held at
St. Martin's featuring the fabulous food
of caterer Am) Breitenbach, which was
vet \ well attended.
Special thanks is given to parade sponsors
1..I. Athletic Supply, Kins.1 Kullen
and the Bethpage Fire Department.
The Bethpage High School Golden Eagle Marching Band marched and performed
in true GOLDEN EAGLE style!
/../. Yellow Cab's 1966 vintage checkered cab received thunderous applause as it
made its nay down Broadway past the reviewing stand. This blast from the pasl was
driven by Charles Kappauf, operating manager along with his wife Anne and his
sons Charles and Jake.
Smiling faces, green huts and hundreds of eager spectators lined the streets of
Bethpage on March 5. Turn to page 7 and ll for more St. Patty's Day coverage.
