Bethpage Chamber of Commerce
Junior League
Make a "Clean Sweep" of Bethpage
Members of the Bethpage Chamber of Commerce Junior League participated
in the first part of their "Clean-up" Bethpage project. Members
armed with brooms and shovels did a fabulous job of picking up the litter
on Broadway. Members included (l-r) Amanda Laiken, Christopher
Corallo, Kristen Kelly, Dillon Lyle, Sal Mangano, James Westerberg,
Michael Comerford, Michael Cashman and kneeling, James Murphy.
BCCJL members Conor Reilly and Alex Mangano are not pictured in
photo. The next clean-up is scheduled this week!
Members worked diligently to remove garbage along Benkert Street.
16th Annual Bethpage St. Patrick's Parade
2007 Grand Marshals
John Coumatos and Kevin McCabe
Clean and beautiful. The alley way behind Broadway is sparkling clean.
Sunday, March 4, 2007, Grand Marshals John Coumatos and Kevin McCabe
will lead the pipers, the marching units, antique autos, fire apparatus and the K-9
Brigade through downtown Bethpage.
The Grand Marshals have a lot in common. John is one of the founders of the
Bethpage St. Patrick's Parade; Kevin has been a member of the committee for
over 12 years. Their Irish roots are in Counties Cork and Tipperary.
John and Kevin are longtime residents of Bethpage. Their friendship stems from
their days at Bethpage High School and as teammates playing football, lacrosse
and running track. Both men are avid sportsmen and fans.
John, an owner of B.K. Sweeney's, hosts many community events and is
known for his loyalty to Bethpage and its residents. As coach, benefactor and fan,
he has helped Bethpage youth develop their athletic abilities and the positive values
one learns on the playing fields.
Kevin has served as a New York City fireman for the past 29 years. Two years
ago, he was promoted to the rank of Battalion Chief in the 13th Division. Kevin,
like so many other firemen, spent day after day at the World Trade Center searching...
searching for victims of that terrible tragedy.
Join Kevin and John on
Sunday, March 4, 2007
as they lead the
16th Annual Bethpage St. Patrick's Parade
through downtown Bethpage.
Starting time: 2:00 PM.
