A horribly rainy and windy Friday evening didn't dampen the spirits
of Bethpage residents as they came out in record numbers to be a
part of the 14th Annual Bethpage Chamber of Commerce Summer
Festival. Although residents were certainly ready and eager to attend
the festival, Mother Nature was definitely not in a good mood! Early
afternoon rains did brighten the skies but even a ray of sunshine couldn't
prevent several strong storms which passed through our area on
Friday and made for a pretty soggy first day. In spite of all the rain,
and to the Chamber's surprise, people came anyway. They carried
umbrellas, danced in the rain and smiled as they made the best of a the
rainy day. It actually seemed as though these drenched festival-uoers
where having a pretty good time in spite of frequent downpours, chilly
temperatures and wicked winds. Everyone was hoping that after all the
rain, Saturday would be better and not only was it better...it was II IE
BEST ONE DAY that the Chamber of Commerce has ever had! A huge
crowd tilled the festival grounds and literal oceans of folks came out to
be a part of this very special and much anticipated Bethpage tradition.
On Friday evening the Chamber has the privilege of having tnetOne
Night Stand Band perform. One Night Stand has performed at the
Chamber Festival before and are true crowd pleasers. They are ab's* \.
fantastic and they had the crowd dancing in the aisles even in the raiiJff
