Streptomycin Is Added
To Blue Cross Plan List
Streptomycin has bee*, added foi
a three-month period to penicillin,
sulfa drugs and other medicines
now available without charge to
liospitalized subscribers occupying
semi-private and ward accommoda-tions
in the 260 hospitals affiliated
with Associated Hospital Service-
New York's Blue Cross Plan, it has
been announced by Louis H. Pink,
president.
"We want our subscribers to have
the best possible care and treat-ment,"
said Mr. Pink. "Although
/streptomycin is still a rare and
expensive -product, we_expect the
quantity will be increased-and the
cost sufficiently redced in three
months to enable us to make It a
permanent benefit available, to sub-scribers
whose physicians recom-mend
it."
Associated Hospital-Service now
cerves more than 2,700,000 Individu-als
in 17 New York couties, includ-ing
the Greater New York area
Subscribers enter Now York hos-pitals
at the rate of 25.000 a month.

Two plays will be presented by

Northwest Glvic Association at a
meeting in the fire house of Hose
4 Monday night. President John
G. Jaeger presided.
Benjamin H. Helm, chairman ot
a committee appointed to inquire

concerning a Community Chest,
submitted a report recommending
that this be done, and offered the
resolutions. The purpose of the
Chest, according to the resolutions,
would be 'to consolidate the finance
ratslng activities of the several
•charitable' and social organizations.

asked for a $600 cost -of -living raise.
He added the Baldwin -district had
no suiplus to draw on for this
purpose, but recommended that the
association request the Baldwin
school authorities to provide an in-crease
to the teachers by what
ever means Is possible under the
law. No action was taken concern-ing
teachers In Roosevelt.
The association endorsed the ac-tion
of the Village-Board on-decid-ing
not to impose a dlmout in
Freeport tor ttie present.
Village Trustee Walter J. Wood
chairman of- the Planning Board,
outlined the Village's, plans for
parking fields. He told of fields listen
