The December group turned $355

August group-$275. A contribution
of $1,000 was voted to the building
•fund of the church.

refreshments were served.

He had been a Resident of Preeport
for 55 years, and was long one of
the village's leading merchants as
the ownc r of Schloss1 department
store on South Main st. He retired
from business about 25 years ago.
He was active in the fraternal and
religious life of the community.
He was one of the organizers and a
charter member of Wide Awake

founders of Temple B'nai Sholom,

plo B'nai Israel, Freeport, which
he had served as vice-president
throughout its ejcistpnce.
Mr. Schloss was a- charter mem-ber
and trustee of Sunrise Lodge,
1069. F. & A. M., and he had be-longed
to the Freeport Lodge, 1253,
B. P. O. Elks, 35 years.
Surviving Mr. Schloss are his
wife,' Lillian Livingston Schloss;
two sons, Dr, Meryin L. Schloss, of
Freeport, and Lawrence L. Schloss,
of New York; a grandson, Norman
Schloss, of New York, and two
sisters, Mrs. Anna Caplan and Mrs.
Martha Schwartz, both of Bridge-port.

the snow so we could get fuel to
heat our homes.
I recall little else concerning the

snowfall. By saying this I would
not detract in the least from the
accomplishments of the Municipal
employees who so quickly opened
up our streets following Friday's
storm.
