SHOULD APPRAISE OUR PLAN! At the meeting of the.J^ilUpF Board Friday afternoon President Lamb touched the right chord regarding the management of aflfairs at the Power House when he stated that he thought the Public Service Commission should be requested to appraise the plant and ascertain Ihe exact cost of producing electric iicht and water. There are no official rei'ords of niaterial con¬ sumed, or uf production, and it is im¬ possible lo uecure figures for making coniparisoii" or deductions. No one is pliiced at fault but the plant is grow ing so rapidly that it is sure time was [Hit on a solid business basis.

Freeport in general has splendid roads, thtf result of large expenditures by the village for gravel, etc., and it has llti II found that no matter how good Hie original job, the roads re- quir.- ei.iiHtant attention to iiiHintuin them ill the right shape. Our Roail Commisaioner tries to do this to thi' best of llis ability. It was 8Ug^re^ted and met with the approval of the ineinbii.s present, tbat the village 11)1 propriiile an amount to be voted on at the next election, and the money ex pended somewhat like this: to hire a capabl.: man. furnish him with, say 11 carload of gravel, a horse and wagon and sulHcient binding materials, hnve him taki.' care of the roads in the vil laRi!, give them constant attention in thH shnpe of tilling up and tiradiii^ all lhe ruts and depressions that are tiounuU to come to our roads, no mat -'ter how well built,. If this were done, iliiy by day, our roads can he kept ill good shape year in and oul. .
Take liny street in the villaj^e and notice lhe ruts that appear in all the soft spots; these rapidly increase in size and eventually lead to a series of bumps.
Roughly, the expenditure by the vil¬ lage would amount to about $1600 to $20UO per yoar, and it would be money properly apent; no doubt, if there is 11 fund ."I't aside for road maintenance this amount could come out of that.

The claim is made in thia article that the meter was wrong, BUT THIS CLAIM IS NOWHERE AND IN NO -MANNER PROVED AS VET.
On the contrary, such facts as are obtainable make it appear to be an as¬ sertion incapable of proof. The par¬ ties in intereat who were suffering from an alleged iK'fective meter were the trolley company. It was clearlv to their intereat to have the meter rightly adjusted. WHY DID THEY FAIL TO INSIST UPON THI.<? .Pure¬ ly time enough ha.s il-ipsed to have done this forty times. The fact is
