In the presence of over a hundred members and friends from other coun¬ cils, Freeport Council, No. 57, Jr. 0. U. A. M., held one of the banner meet¬ ings since its organization last Friday evening at its rooms. Odd ^Fellows' Hall, in honor of Past Councilor James W. Cheshire, recently elected State Councilor of N. Y. State. Junior Past Councilor Fishel introduced the speak¬ ers, first pre.senting Henry L. Maxson, who, on behalf of the council, presented Mr. Cheshire with a State Councilor's jewel. When the display of enthusi¬ asm had somewhat abated, Mr. Fishel, on behalf of a number of personal friends of Mr. Cheshire in the council, presented him with a handsome gokl watch. Mr. Cheshire, "too overcome for speechmaking," made audible his thanks and doubtful it is if all in the room were not more or less moved by the s])irit of the occasion. Thomas S. William Lewis William Lewis, an employee in the signal department of the Long Island Railroad, residing in thi* village, and
about 55 years of age, died Tuesday af¬ ternoon in Brooklyn. He was taken to the city by Dr. John W. Moore, in company with his wife and son-in-law, for an operation at the Long Island

To Build Two Theatres
Announcement has been made that in connection with a store and oflice building to be created on Main street, Jacob Post will arrange for a large theatre or auditorium, which has been greatly needed for a number of years. It is also announcetl that P'red A. and L. P. Stone, who have purchased the W. E. Golder drug store property, at the corner of Main Street and the Mer¬ rick Road, will, within the next two years, build a handsome three story brick building on the site, with stores on the first floor, an opera house on the second, and lodge rooms on the third. With these simultaneous an¬ nouncements, forecasting two auditor¬ iums for public entertainment, and fa¬ cilities for lodgd purposes, residents are hopeful that the plans will Oe fully carried out.
