He watchetl the Might of the jiiece I of Jiaper and when it fell to the ground I he noticed a colored man by the name | of Leonard ("hapjiell, who has been serving a three montlus' term for va¬ grancy, pick it UJI.
Chujijiell took the jiaper lo a window anil iiasseil it outside. Suspecting that there was a jilot of some kind on fool the warden hurried outside and noticed a . man by the name of Cohn Kelly running away. Kelly hail just finished a term for vagrancy.
When he saw the warden he started over the fields. He was threatened with death if he did not stoji, and final¬ ly when he stojiped running the warden soon caught uji to him. Dunbar ijues- tioned him about the mysterious piece of Jiaper which he had receivil, and at first he denied it. I'he warden search¬ ed him, but nothing could be found in his possession.
The warden then decided to take the man back to the jail, where Kelly con¬ fessed he had received the paper. He told the warden that he had tor.i it up in his flight. The two men started back towards tho jail and the pieces of paper were found. Picking them up, the warden jiut the pieces together and found these words written on it:
"Get back saw and six tiles."
Kelly said he did not kiiow what the wording meant, but the warden im¬ mediately came to the conclusion that an attempt was to be made to get Von Fehri}? out of jail. Extra precaution was inimemately taken to prevent an outbreak.
Kelly was not detainetl by the au¬ thorities. At the jail it waa said that durin(!r hie oonfmement Kelly swept the third tier and in thia way it is believed he became aoquAinted with Von Feh¬ rig,—Times. ^

They were also di¬ rected to see that the law in reference to hotels and saloons should be enforc¬ ed.

cate with President Ralph Peters of the Long Island Railroad, in reference to the proper lighting of the station and walks along the station at Rock ville Centre, and to notify them that if the company did not properly reme¬ dy this matter, proper action would be taken.
