Saturday at Freeport Athletic Park the Freeport Club lost an interesting game to Rockville Centre by the score of 5 to 4. The feature of the game was the pitching of Longenecker, Rock¬ ville Centre, and Levinus, Freeport, the former striking out fourteen men and the latter eleven. They were ab¬ ly supported by both Berg and Levinus, who caught first-ciass games.
Rockville Centre started the ball rolling in the fourth. Pettit singled but forced out at second by Berg, Per¬ ry reached first on an error by Wal¬ lace, Bristol flied to Wallace, Ceroid singled scoring Berg. In the fifth in¬ ning, Longenecker singled, Young struck out, Murray sacrificed, Pettit singled, scoring Longenecker.
There was plenty of excitement in the sixth. Rockville Centre opened up by P-erry walking out-on 'four wide ones, Bristol sacrificed, Cierold struck out, Longenecker doubled, scoring Per¬ ry and Shea, Young singled scoring Longenecker; Murray singled but was caught off first - three runs.

The tirst man arrested, Frank Lewis, o.f-Manhattan, speed 21 miles s-n hour, was fined $H); pleaded guilty.
Two men were tnvjught in before 'Justice Swezey for speeding on motor cycles. They were Michael Izzi and his friend Charles Winges. Justice Swezey fined each $5, but when he learned that they only had ^10 between them. Izzi i}H and Winges, .^2 he re¬ duced the former's fine to ^$;J leaving the ))air .$2 to last until they got homt!.

These two gentlemen are prominently menti(med as their own successors and William S. Hall and Elvin N. Edwards are be¬ ing talked of by their friends.
A budget of about $40,000 will al.so be presented to be voted upon. Messrs. Cozzens and Foreman have consented to accept the duties of this office for another term if the voters .so wish'.
Interesting motor boat races have been arranged by P. W. Behreiis from the Brant Point Hou.se next Saturday. August 8.
Two prizes will be awarded in speed boat contests and two in the free-for- alls. Those wishing to enter any of these contests must be at the Brant Point House tomorrow, Saturday, Aug. 1, for handicap measurements. All motor boat enthusiasts are invited to participate in this sport. ;; Isaac DeNyse of the Hempstead Bay Yacht Club will be on hand to measure the entries.

Notwithstanding the bad weather for the secoiui anual motor boat parade and review of the Nassau Yacht Club, on Saturday afternoon, twenty-three decorated motor boats appeared at the start of the parade, carrying over 250 guests.
Owing to a sh.arp shower at 'A j). m., the parade was delayed over an hour, and it was seven bells before the Com¬ mittee boat swung into the stream sa¬ luting with her gun. Following her down the creek to the hay and then with a wide sweep to the east the fleet .svvijng g2"icefaUy to Wix'ck IjxHui.whete the Committee boat dropped her anchor as the "Lillie E." Commodore Strong's fiag-ship, rounded under iie'r stern, sa¬ luting the colors as she pas.sed abeam. And so, amid guns and shrill whistles, each gaily dressed yacht rounded the (lub boat, saluting and being saluted in return.
On board the club boat. Commodore Mayl.-ind, id' the Hempstead Bay Yacht Club, assisted by Messrs. Doxsey and Meyer 9t' the .Nassau Yacht Club, acted as revi(;wing officers.
The ffeet, precedetl by the Hag ship, then sailed west to Lawrence Beach, and then again swinjfing in a circle, .started home, reaching the club house at t) o'clo'k.

The annual fair of the Freeport Fire Department closed Saturday even¬ ing with a record of four rainy nights and one fairly clear one—that is, "with¬ out rain before eleven o'clock. Friday and Saturday nights the attendance was large and all seemed to have a good time.
One of the principal attractions was the supper served by the ladies' com¬ mittee, each evening.

The first issue of the Messenger, the new local paper, ajipeared last week. It is a snappy, newsy sheet, with James A. Stiles as publisher, John T. Burke business manager, A. Palermo, county representative, and Lyman W. Taft city reporter. The paper is print¬ ed at the Nassau County Review print¬ ing office; this is the second newspaper that they are printing besides their own.
