OUR GREETING. 0 welcome to our lively town Ye men of fame and great renown, And hail, all hail to firemen brave, That risk their lives our homes to save. And also life when danger's great As many a one could now relate. When element so ire is found ^Enveloping all things around With tongues of fl^me, how they speed. To rescue all requiring need. Ah! now they come in costumes fine, And engines that do truly shine. As if Alaskan ore did rest 'Pon their machines, so gaily drest With decorations that delight Our eyes as we behold the sight. While strains of music reach our ears, We greet them with rousing cheers. And to the chief guest of the day. We loudly voice, hip, hip, hurrah! And greet him with a heart and soul Enthused in truth, beyond control; Ke is '. in n of high degree In many /ays, in deed, is he, A Nimrod great that holds the name Of hunting lions quite untame; But as a comrade now we boast. And to his health we drink a toast, To this, our man of many sides, O, may he live, whate'er betides. Until hi.s spirit waxeth old, And he may hunger for that fold Whv.ie wars are not, but peace, sweet
peace, I
Is ever our.s without surcease.
