j A very enjoyable outing was spent I at "Red Wing" on the shore at Fort ' Salonga, L, L. last week by a party of Northport and Freeport people as the guests of Mf. and Mrs. William Loper, Mr. and Mrs. Brtice Ketcham, sr., of Northport, and Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Sprague of Freeport. The guests were: Mr. and Mrs. George Vander¬ bilt of Northport, Mrs. D. Miller, Mr. and -Mrs. C. A. Reitmeyer, Misses Bessie and Helen Sprague, of Free- port, and Miss Louise Field of Bay Shore.
The following was written by one of the party who had such a good time that below is the result:
What's the matter with "Red Wing'.'" It's all right! On the beach at Fort Salonga, and by the trees kept out of sight. Sunshiny and gay, the livelong day, made so by the guests of mine hosts, and to Mr. and Mrs. Lop¬ er, we all raise our voice in a toast. Uncle George and Aunt Lou (Vander¬ bilt), we'll never forget, for they are all life and sport, and when the Free¬ porters feel a little blue, they'll think of them at Northport. Bruce Ketch¬ am, sr., and also Aunt Fan, his wife, were so full of fun they could not keep (juiet a minute. If anyone happened to mention some sport. Uncle Bruce and Aunt Fan were right in it. Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Sprague, of Freeport, were also there as hcst.s. And every minute of the day they enjoyed to their utmost. They did everything that laid in their power to make our stay one sunshiny bower. They suc¬ ceeded well, you bet, for tbe sport we had we won't soon forget. Miss Lou¬ ise Field, of Bay Shore, was also one of the guests. She was on her vaca¬ tion and sported with the rest. Misses Helen and Bessie Sprague, with Mr. and Mrs. F. J. went, and when they left old Freenort, they were on pleas¬ ure bent. They traveled up and down the shore, the fields, the woods and beach, and gobbled up every bit of fun that came within their reach, Mrs. David Miller of Freeport, too, was there looking hale and hearty, with fun and just kept up with the rest, and furnished fun for all the party. Mr. and Mrs. Reitmeyer from Freeport way, were guests, too. so it seems, and kept the air of "Red Wing" laden with their laughter and their screams. I think I've got them all that was there. I've tried to do my best, and if I've left any of those good folks out, they'll know it is just hecause I've not for¬ gotten them, or any such darn thing; but I can't get it out of my mind, the , sport at old "Red Wing." From sun¬ up in the rnorn+ng till sunset in the night, it was one round of pleasure ¦and pleasure with all our might. Now I think I've written quite enough, and ; I know that so say you, and if you hap-' pen to publish this I'll tell you what I'll do; I'll give up writing for a while to give the type a rest, but tell the good folks that read this that I have ! done my best. I am not going to sign ' my name, for I was one of the guests. Here's three cheers for good "Red Wing;" all who were there join in. Three more cheers for the hosts; their praises we'll ever sing.
