Scoutmaster
Oxenham at Camp
On Friday, September 10, at 8 p. m.. Assistant Scoutmaster Oxenfaam again returned to bia boys in Troop 2, wbere he told them of his experiences at Camp Ramapo, during tbe month of August, which waa aa follows:
Having left Freeport on July 81, I arrived at Camp Ramapo et 12:52 p. m. Sunday, leaving Jersey City at 10:20 a. m. There I met my brother and a number of Brooklyn Scouts. I was tben shown tny way to my camp¬ ing qaartera and proceediti to unpack my belongings
During tfae four weeks I was there we piaye^ quite a namber of scout gatnea, both on land and water, chiefly among tbem tbe following: flag raid¬ ing, Treasure Island, 20 Islands, Raid ing the laland and Sturgeon Spearing.
Every night but Snnday night we bad a Council fire in the big mess hall, at which time we sang songs, told stories and participated in scout games. On Wednesday, September 1, Scoatmaater M. E. Oxenham. with five other scouta and myself closed camp for the season. We then started on a hike to Newburgb. N. T., thirty miles away, leaving camp at 1) :80 a. m., we Btarted for Soatbfields town, two miles from camp. Having arrivei) at that place we started a fire agoing and cooked our dinner. From there we boarded a train for Harriman, N. Y., six miles away, from this place we started along the State Road to Newburgb, 24 mi'ies away. After covering 15 miles we reached Wood¬ bury about 7 p. m., at which place we ..pitched camp and stayed for the night. Everyttody having a most enjoyable sapper consisting of creamed salmon, boiled corn, cocoa, bread and peaches. We tben started our Council fira.-and sai)g songs until 9 p. m., at which time taps were blown and all retired.
Reveille being sounded at 6 a. m. next morning, we all got up ready for tfae 9 mile trip to Newburgb. Our next: stop waa Cornwall-on the-Hudson, at which place we viewed tbe New York Military Academy. :f From Corn¬ wall to Newburgb, atnjitance of f^ve miles, were were lucky enough to get "a lift" from an owner of a Ford car.
Having reacheo Newburgb at 2 p. m. Thuraday, September 2, we went directly to Washington's Headquarters where we saw many things of histori¬ cal interest. We stayed tbere for fif teen minutes and then left on the 2:20 boat for West Poiftt. Arriving at West roint at 3. p. m. we went direct¬ ly to the soldiers' barracks where we were received moat hospitably. The regular gymnasium was at our dispos¬ al as our sleeping quarters for the time we wertj there. We even had use of the prize {^.<{nting ring and shower baths.
I stayed there with the boys until Friday afternoon at which time I left with nty brother for New York City. Hy brother and I came home via Bear Mountain, arriving in New York at tbe Battery at 8 p. m. I then stayed over night in Brooklyn and came to Freeport the following day. The fol¬ lowing scouts were members of the party: Scoats Hurd, Daniels, Isar- man, A. Soloman, Scoatmaater M. L. Oxenham and Assistant Scoutmaster
Soloman of Troop 21, Brooklyn.

What waa intended for tbe final meeting of the Field Day Committee was held at the truck houae Tuesday evening, bat inasmuch as some of tbe committees were unable to present complete reporte, another meeting ^ill be beld before final report is made to the department. Although it was ex¬ pected'that the report this year would show a deficit, enough hat been re ceived to asaurc "breBkIng even," with poMJbly a tlight profit. Tbe CommitteCV* been forced tn work harder than ever to make this possi¬ ble, and it was only by hard work, and plenty of it, that it finished at well as it did.
