While Oscar Khodes was working 'in his automoliile in front of his oflice Friday evening his hands were covered with gasoline. He lighted a match to find the stopcock under the vehicle and the light ignited the oil on his hands and they were badly burned.
Two shots from the revolver of Night Watchman Baker was the cause of the awakening of several uf the residents ahout the Freeport station of the Long Island Kailroad early Fri- <lay morning. Watchman Baker, while making his regular rounds, visited the station and saw a man near ri window at the oflice. Before Officer Baker realized it he was lotiking into the barrel of a revolver in the hand of the stranger. .Mr. Baker dodged back for a moment to pull his gun anrl the stranger made good the opportunity ^^^j.^ Steam lioil and fled across the lots southward of the station. Baker followed, calling on the man to stop, aiul, as he did not obey, tired two shots. Tho stranger made good his escape.
