Albin N. Johnson, Edmund Cheshire and H. Bratton Kennedy as a commit¬ tee from the .Mask and Wig Club of Freeport, through Mr. Johnson as spokesman, stated that 'their- organiz¬ ation intended giving a series of en¬ tertainments during the Winter for public purposes, and offered to give the first one of these entertainments for the benefit of the Fire Department, on a liberal net percentage basis. The offer was accepted and John S. Sum¬ ner, J. Cecil Powera, Charles 0. Niles. David Pettigrew and Edward Rice were appointed a committee with pow¬ er to make arrangements with a com¬ mittee from that Club.
Permission was granted Engine 1 to hold a ball on Friday evening, Febru¬ ary 11, 1916.

Edward Terry Southard, age 54, one of the best known yachtsmen and basi¬ ness men of this section, died early Wedneaday of acute indigestion at hia home, on Grand Avenue, Baldwin,
Mr. Southard was born in Baldwin, a son of Jamea H, Southard. His two brotbera, Charlea H., Commodore of the Soutb Shore Yacht Club, and Fred¬ erick C. Southard, are also prominent yachtsmen. He was one of the found¬ ers of the Heropstt-ad Bay and Soutb Shore Yacht Cluba.
He was alao a member of the Cbe- gonoe Lodge, K. of P., of Baldwin;
