on a big scale by the V. M. C. A and various other organizations, but cor.i- liaratively few of the soldiers get to Freeport. However, there have been Considerable numbers of them here on various occasions and 'it was antici¬ pated the number would be larger.
The purposes of the meeting were discussed at some length, addresses of explanation being made by Messrs. Rowe and Settle of the War (."Com¬ mission on Training Camp Activities, and .Messrs. Hill and Knight on the work of the Y. M. C. -A. in the rtain- ing camps and its environs, after which it was decided to make a per¬ manent organization, to be composed of active, workers in all local civic and church organizations, and the fol¬ lowing officers were elected: Presi¬ dent, Village President Sidney H. Swezey; vice presidents, Mrs. F. F^ Story, John M. Harrington, Samuel R. Smith; secretary, R. W. Knight; treas¬ urer. Smith F. Pearsall. The appoint¬ ment of committees was laid over till Tuesday evening of this week.
.A resolution was passed instructing the president and secretary to engage and equip suitable rooms for the ac¬ commodation of the soldiers.
The Soldiers' Club has been opened at 13 Railroad Avenue and will be I oi)en for the present each evening I from 6 to 10 p. m., aVm Sumluy after¬ noons as well.

.Miss Florence Churchill, daughter of .Mr. and .Mrs. Esmond S. Stiles, of this village, and Charles Lewis, also of Freeport, were married Saturday afternoon at her home, on Dean St., Rev. Saul O. Curtice, pastor of the M. E. Church, performed the ceremony, which was witnessed by thirty-five members of the couple's families. The house was decorated with hyacinths and asters. The Wedding .March from "Lohengrin" was played by Miss Edith Mcintosh.
The bride wore a gown of Georg¬ ette crei)e and satin, and carrieil. a bouquet of roses and lilies of the val¬ leys. She' was attended by her sis¬ ter. Miss .Mildred L. Stiles, who wore pink tatfeta and net. She carried a bouquet of pink roses.
The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Wright F. Lewis, jr. The bride was given away by her father. Following a collation, the young cou¬ ple left for the Thousand Islands, where they will spend the month. .Mrs. Lewis attended school at Freeport, and is a graduate of Emerson College of Boston. .Mr. Lewis is an attorney, associated with tidmuixl Briggs of Brooklyn. The couple will make their home in Freeport.
