"SAFE AND SANE" FOURTH After baving bad a good suit of clothes spoiled by a buy old enough to kn»w better, as a resolt of a "fire cracker thrown at bim on Mobday, tbe writer is entirely willing to second any movement for a "safe and sanef'' Fourth, or to aasia' tbe police in see¬ ing that these celebrations be kept off tbe public highway*.
After having bad a demand made upon him for $65 for tiie payment of a load of hay and tbe wagon on which it was being carted, and tbe-charge that the fire cracker wai> thrown by his son, I am quite sore tbat "Mayor'" Gobetz will second the proposition.
Incidentally, we are qoite convinced that a youngster wbo is not old enough to know better tban to throw a lighted cracker at any object or peraons, is not old enough te be allowed to handle them.

RECOMMEND WHITE GLOVES Here is a suggestion we have made several times, wbich we respectfully pass on to the police department. If the office?'at the Merrick Road and Main Street, or any traffic officer, woold wei e white gloves at all times, it would be much es^ier to distinguish his signals^. With tbe white gloves it is easy to see them a block away and without tbem, particularly at nigbt. it ik difficult to tell wbich way be is is signalling, even wb«n yoa Mre ocly a little distance awaay.
¦r, ONE POOR TRAIN Don't illusionize yourself that you can take the 6:46 train evenings and get to Pennsylvania Station at 7:40 and tben in time for theatres or meet¬ ings at 8 o'clock. Tbis train baa an uncomfortable habit of leaving Jaroai* ca at 7:40 instead of ending its trip at that time.
