About New Incinerator
A Democratic proposal to sponsor
a city form of government for all ol
Nassau County was assailed by two
Republican Town officials at the
first fall meeting of the Freeport
Republican ClubMn the Legion Dug-out
on Sunrise Highway last Thurs-day
night.
Town Oounclknen Charles A.
Hewlett of Woodmere and John H.
McConnell of North Bellmore warn-ed
that establishment of a city_
would mean creation of a ward
system and elimination of all in-corporated
villages. It would give
Nassau County a government very
much like that in effect in the
boroughs of Greater New York,
they explained.
Mr. Hewlett declared the Demo-crats
Wave made this proposal in
hopes of promoting their chances
to gain control of the County. He
said it could not have been.- made
