after 'an Illness of only two days
Monday morning in the Meadow-brook
Hospital. He was born in New
York, 67 years ago, and came to
Freeport from Brooklyn 22 years
ago. He became an -errand boy for
an optical concern when he was
only 12 years of age, and learned
the trade 'from the ground up until
he became one of the best known
experts in his line in this territory.
Mr.- Lehm&nn • was a- member .of
the Freeport' Lodge of Elks, the
Freeport Republican ' Club and the
Fathers' and~Boosters' dub of the

The Leader regrets to report that* Eddie Vapil, publisher of
the Nassau Eeporl^r, is in Meadowbrppk Hospital fpjlowing a
attack at the Freeport Bank Tuesday aftemooxL
Eddie went into the bank on business and collapsed while
walking across the floor to speak-to one of the members of the
bank's staff. He was given first aid treatment by Dr, Ephriam
Stein, who was in the bank at the time. He'wa9 placed on a cot
in the bank until the ambulfince from WEeadowbrook arrived.
He was placed in an oxygen tank at the:hospital and reports
from the hospital and the family on Wednesday were favorable.
The Leader and its staff wish Eddie a speedy recovery and
hope he may be able to leave the hospital at an early date much
improved in health.
