For Village Campaign
An enthusiastic meeting of the
workers in the Red Cross fund cam-paign
to raise $11,000 in Preeport
during March was held in the home
of the branch chairman, Mrs. Har-
.old-. W. Battin, 391 Pennsylvania
avenue, Saturday afternoon.
Mrs. Marion Banker, .the cam-paign
chairman, announced that a
complete staff of volunteer workers
had been gotten together, to con-duct
a house-to-house solicitation
in every section of the village. These
are headed by- district .captains who
are to submit their first reports at
a meeting to be held in Mrs. Bat-tin's

Christ LMeran Announces
Christ Lutheran Church, North Grove street and Randall
avenue, has announced the free Sunday school bus schedule
for-South Preeport that will be effective Sunday/ March 16,
for transporting children from that section of the village to
Sunday School which starts at 9 o'clock.
South Freeport was selected as
the trial area because the greatest
need for' Sunday school transpor-tation
exists in that area. Similar
service for North Freeport will be
dependent upon exj>erience in South
Freeport.
Parents are requested not to
park or stop cars along the church
property on the south of Randall

Bohnenbsreer medal for the out-standing
work of creative writing

and Ernest Poole. As he says, "whose
hasn't."

Lee was a newspaper wonnan on
the Atlanta Journal, a radio script
writer, fashion editor, and advertis-ing
executive. In passing, asjt were,
she was^a_daily radio commentator
on an Atlanta station, tne city which
is her home town, __
Harry Lee has been a newspaper
-reporter, written for radio, taken
a- briesf fling at the theatre,--and
been a labor editor and publicity
man. He has a wife and three chil-dren.

The advantages to Freeport of developing a municipal
parking field with a capacity, of 1,000 cars in Hanse Park were
outlined by Village Trustee Cord Vjebroek in a talk before
the monthly meeting of the Atlantic South Civic Association
at the Soufh Shore Yaeht Club Thursday-night.

was elected president of .the Freeport peniocratic Club by a -
vote of 56 to 15J" at a stormy meeting- held in Keaijquarters, 56

rival slate in with him.
- The election was preceded by a
debate lasting an hour and a half
as to the 'procedure to be followed.
Wfltiam Wilmot Introduced a mo-tion
providing for a count of the
members standing up as the -cand-idates
for each office .were voted on.
Some of the members contended
that the constitution required a vote
by .ballot and read -the section relat-ing
to elections to back their coni-tentions.
However, when a vote on
the-; resolution was finally taken, 16
voted for an election by ballot, .32
for a standing vote and 22 abstained
from voting. When the balloting
began, the 15 and occasionally a few
others, voted for Ifoe candidates, re-commended
by Mrs. Frances Regan;
chairman of the nominating .com-mittee,
and the others for .the' op-position.
