Santa Has Some Problems
Many Requests at P. O.
Letters mailed at the Farmingdale Post Office and addressed
to Santa Claus at the North Pole will receive postcard
answers picturing Santa with " Mr. Zip Code" saying " We're
On Our Way!" The message from Santa reads, " Dear Little
Friend, Your letter made me glad that you are good.
Santa is coming to visit all good little girls and boys. Here's
love, Santa Claus.
PS. Mr. Zip will help me find you. You are my helper,
too, when you use Zip code."
Many letters addressed to Santa included beautiful artwork.
One contained a lollypop for the jolly old gent. Most of the
small fry writers stated that they were very very good, but
one admitted to having been " a very bad boy this year. But
I will try from now on to be good."
Two classes from the Woodward Parkway Kindergarten
youngsters paid the post office a visit and brought Santa

Students in District 22 will begin
their holiday recess at the
close of the school day on Tuesday,
December 22 and will return
on Monday, January 4.
St. Kilians R. C. Parochial
school will begin their holiday
vacation at noon on Wednesday,
December 23 and will also return
on Monday, January 4.

Among the trends in popular toys this year, gleaned from
the hundreds of letters revealed that there were fewer requests
for guns and war like toys this year than usual. There
was an increased number of requests for space equipment.
Dolls, doll furniture, and doll clothes is still the overwhelming
favorite request of little girls, while trucks, and
trains still rate higfc on the boys' lists. Pool tables and wagons
cropped up on many of the requests.
Among the new name toys which cropped up this year repeatedly
in letters were: Flintstone building blocks, The
Big Press, Phantom Raider, and Horrible Hamilton.
Last year the big names were Mr. Machine, and Mr. Kelly's
Car Wash.
Sleds, dishes, rockets, coloring sets, Beatle records, were
popular on many of the lists.

Chairman Charles Karp has
planned a program which includes
a magic show, puppets, movies,
music, end Santa Claus.
The traditional covering of the parking meters
to provide holiday shoppers with free parking
took on a different look in Farmingdale this year
since there were no uniform meter covers provided
by the Chamber of Commerce. One of the more
attractive welcomes to park was created by the
Holiday Inn on 302 Main Street.
Getting into practice for their busy holiday season are members of the St.
Kilian Boychoir reading from left to right top row: Charles Tuttle, Dennis
Steinbeke, Thomas Heit; ( bottom row) James Crispino, Steven Frey and
James Giancola. On Friday, December 18 at 3 p. m. they will sing in the
Newport Daily News Lobby; on Monday, December 21 at 5: 30 p. m. at Manufacturers
Trust, Park Avenue, New York City; on Wednesday, December 23
in the Children's Ward at Bellevue Hospital at 2: 30 p. m. and in the American
Hotel Lobby, 7th Avenue, New York City at 5: 30 p. m. They will participate
in the Solemn High Midnight Mass at St. Kilians on December 24th and at
