PARADE, FIREWORKS
TO MARK JULY The Farmingdale Fire Department this week extended an invitation
to residents of Farmingdale and neighboring communities
to attend the Seventh AnnualFirerama to beheld on Sunday,
July 3 at the rear of the Farmingdale Fire Headquarters.
The parade participants will assemble in the main parking
field and units will begin march promptly at 6: 00 p. m. The
parade route will proceed to Rose Street, to Grant Avenue,
then right on Grant to Main Street and north on Main to
Front Street, east on Front Street to Secatogue Avenue and
south on Secatogue to Conklin Street, west on Conklin to
Cherry Street. The parade will proceed south on Cherry to
Wesche Drive and into the parking field where the units will
disband.
The reviewing stand will be located on the ramp of Fire
Headquarters.
Handsome trophies will be awarded to the best appearing
groups. Following the parade, a Variety Show is scheduled with
local talent participating.
Refreshments will be available at the field which will open
at 2: 00 p. m. Kiddie rides and novelties will be available for
the children. After the parade prizes are awarded, a community
service award will be presented by the Farmingdale Fire
Department to an outstanding citizen of the community.
At dark the festivities will be concluded with a display
of fireworks.
School Board Appoints New Architect
For High School Expansion ( See School Board Report Page 6)
Solomon Newborn, Oyster Bay Town Tax Receiver, had the problem of
deciding between Terry Frisenda, " Miss Farmingdale" and Gail Dowling
" Miss Plainview", contestants for the title of " Miss Nassau County Republican
Recruit". Newborn's problem was solved when Miss Dowling
captured the " Miss Congeniality of Nassau County" and Miss Frisenda was
elected " Miss Oyster Bay". Miss Frisenda ( left) is a secretary and Miss
Dowling is a Junior at the University of Connecticut.
Michael Malone ( left), of 316 Van Cott Avenue.
Farmingdale, a graduate of Chaminade High School,
receives congratulations from Town of Oyster
Bay Supervisor Michael N. Petito upon acceptance
as Midshipman at the United States Naval Academy
at Annapolis. Petito recommended Malone for
the appointment to Senator Robert F. Kennedy last
November.
