Public Hearing On Cable TV
A public hearing was held
Monday night in Farmingdale
Village Hall on the application
for Communications Development
L. I. Corporation ( CDLIC)
of Jericho for the installation of
cable television in the village.
Appearing before the board of
trustees, Dan Sweeney, attorney
for CDLIC, reported on the
problems of clearing a franchise
with the state authorities because
of another TV company that
indicated an interest in such a
franchise, then withdrew their
bid The proposed franchise is for
ten years and must be approved
by New York State and the
Federal Communications
Commission.
The board of trustees indicated
that after examination of such a
franchise by the village attorney
and board members, the franchise
be processed as quickly as
possible in view of the interest
shown by village residents in
obtaining the service.
Sweeney acknowledged the
interest of the public, but said the
approval from state and federal
authorities might require eight to
ten weeks before they are able to
begin installation of the system in
the village.
CDUC presently holds the
franchise for the unincorporated
portions of the Towns of Oyster
Bay and Babylon and are now
making installations throughout
the area.
