A testimonial dinner- dance to
honor retiring Farmingdale
Republican Leader Frank J.
Hynes is being planned for
Saturday night, January 10, at
the Holiday Manor, Bethpage, by
the Farmingdale Republican
Committee.
The affair will be held from.
7: 30 p. m. to la. m. and will include
dining, dancing and
unlimited cocktails. Tickets and
reservations are available on a
first come, first served basis and

Pfoh chaired the event,
assisted by Robert Pfoh and
George Finn as co- chairmen.
Hynes, who officially retired as
leader December 1, served the
Farmingdale community for 30
years in active political life. He
served as Town of Oyster Bay
Receiver of Taxes and as a Town
Councilman in addition to being
Farmingdale leader for the past
ten years.
Non- partisan friends are also
joining the salute to Frank
Hynes, because during his
political life he has tried with
fervor to help people across the
county, never looking for any
personal reward.
Although retiring from political
life, Hynes will continue to serve
as a vice president of the Long
Island Trust Company.

Area Youth
A 22 year old Farmingdale man
was severely injured early
Sunday morning when a booby-trap

outside a Jerusalem Avenue Bar.
A second bomb was discovered in
the car's trunk.
According to police, Samuel
Porpora of 131 Fallwood Parkway,
Farmingdale, a dishwasher
in a nursing home, left a North
Bellmore bar at 3: 19 a. m. and
went to his. 1974 Mercury Cougar.
He picked up an electronic
deviice sitting on the front seat
and it exploded in his face. The
device, which resembled a small
portable radio or tape player,
was actually a small explosive
which may have been placed in
the car by someone else.

According to Frank Ranieri,
president of Dolphin Green Civic
Association, there is limited
parking facilities at the site
which will create traffic and
parking problems for residents
living on Dolphin Drive and Val
Page Street and surrounding
areas. This will endanger the
safety and health of our
children's welfare, he stated.
Ranieri told the Post a petition
drive is now underway to obtain
signatures in opposition to the
parlor. Oyster Bay Town
Councilman Gregory Carman
has been contacted, Ranieri said,
and " we have received his
complete support, which he will
discuss with the town board and
Supervisor Burke."
According to Don Kehoe, public
relations director for Nassau
Downs, there is more than
adequate parking to accommodate
the betting parlor.
He told the Post there is room for
38 parking spaces in the rear of
the building, plus on- street
