Assistant Clerk
Former village trustee Norman Krasnow, who
resigned his seat on the board last month, was officially
appointed assistant clerk- treasurer Monday night by
Mayor John T. Hallahan and the Board of Trustees. The
retirement of Village Clerk- Treasurer James McKenna
on October 1 was announced by the mayor.
Krasnow will take his new post, on July 1 and understudy
McKenna until October 1. Upon McKenna's
retirement, Krasnow will become the village administrator.

The fifteenth annual fireworks
display in the Village of Farmingdale
will be held Friday
night, July 4, in celebration of
Independence Day. The display
will begin at dusk ( approximately
9: 15 p. m.).
The public can view the aerial
display from the parking field
behind Village Hall, or any of the
adjacent streets. The fireworks
will be launched from the Weldon
E. Howitt Junior High School
field by the New York
Pyrotechnic Corp. of Bellport.
Refreshments will be available
at booths set up by the Farmingdale
Volunteer Fire
Department drill team behind
the fire house. Rain date for the
display will be Saturday, July 5.
Cherry Street from Conklin to
Grant Ave. and Rose Street from
Grant to the Municipal Parking
field will be closed to traffic until
after the display.
Nassau County Police Commissioner
Louis J. Frank has
issued a warning to county
residents on the dangers in the
use of fireworks and potential
criminal prosecution for their
possession.
The Commissioer pointed out
that in the past two years more
than 31 persons have been
seriously injured by illegal
fireworks, resulting in amputations,
loss of eyesight,
mutilations and burns.
He said, " Many of these
tragedies can be avoided by
alerting the public to the hazards
of illegal fireworks and eliciting
their cooperation."
Commissioner Frank also
noted that there have been
numerous arrests during the past
few years of persons either
illegally possessing, using, or
selling fireworks. Anyone found
guilty of such charges is subject
to $ 500 fines and 90 days in jail.
Village Taxes
Due July 1st
The Village Clerk of the Inc.
Village of Farmingdale advised
all resident taxpayers that 1975-
76 Village Taxes must be paid by
July 1 without penalty of 5%,
which becomes effective on July
2.
All tax bills received by mail
and dated July 1 or sooner will be
accepted as having been mailed
within the legal time limit. Tax
bills with cancelled postage date
of July 2 or later will be returned
if penalty is not included with
payment.
McKenna has served the
village in this post for the past 15
years.
Also during Monday night's
meeting, the board presented a
proclamation to the Junior
League of the Woman's Club of
Farmingdale for their service to
the community, particularly
their contribution to the bicentennial
celebration. Members of
the Junior League recently
painted the fire plugs in the
village as revolutionary soldiers,
dressed in red, white and blue
uniforms.
Deputy Mayor Willis B. Carman,
Jr., reported attending a
meeting as the village
representative looking into
possible future use of the Main

Free Concert Friday
Tomorrow, June 27, at the
Weldon E. Howitt Junior High
School, 8: 30 p. m., the famed
Orchestra da Camera is to
present a concert of modern and
contemporary jazz, featuring
also dancers John Parks and
Bernadine Jenkins from the Whiz
Company, soloist Lalan Parrot at
the piano, with the orchestra
under the direction of Thomas
Booth, conductor.
This concert is free to the
public and is sponsored by the
Farmingdale Bicentennial
Committee, with financial
support from the Federal
Government, New York State
Council on the Arts and the Incorporated
V| U « ge of Farmingdale.
Mayor Hallahan and the Board
of Trustees urge everyone
to attend, listen and see
this fine gr& up of musicians and
artists perform in this artistic
endeavor, one of many in
celebration of America's
Bicentennial programs being
sponsored by Farmingdale's own
Bicentennial Commission under
co- chairmanship of George Cook
and Mrs. Nancy Gillies.
Mayor Hallahan and the Board
of Trustees publicly express their
appreciation to the many
business organizations and local
merchants for their generous
contributions to provide Farmingdale
residents the opportunity
to hear this fine orchestra.
