their regular May meeting Monday night, voted to join a
group of nine school districts in a lawsuit against the
State of New York to be reimbursed for taxable
property taken over by the state or state authorities.
for the heart and information on
the emergency treatment of

F. M. M., executive director of the
hospital noted that the hospital

Club will hold its second Bike- A-Thon
on Sunday, May 15, on the
campus of S. U. N. Y. at Old
Westbury.

CP Tag Days
Start Sunday
A large group of local
teenagers will join hands with the
Cerebral Palsy Association of
Nassau County to raise junds for
the agency's Center for Living in
Roosevelt. Money raised from
the annual Mother's Pay
weekend fund drive - called
" Cerebral Palsy Tag Days" -
will enable the facility to carry on
its comprehensive program of
services to the region's cerebral
palsied youngsters and adults.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hackett of
Farmingdale have been named
adult supervisors for Farmingdale.
They have enlisted
Jamie Keats to serve as area
Teen- Chairman. His responsibility
is to enlist the aid of
fellow high school students to
participate in the fund raising
endeavor.
Cerebral Palsy Tag Days is a
student run function coordinated
on a Countywide basis. During
the drive participants make
canister solicitations at bus
depots, train stations, and local
shopping areas.
According to Tag Day Chairman
S. Alan Hirschorn of Roslyn,
" This County- wide youth event is
reflective of today's young
people's concern for their handicapped
peers." In conjunction
with the fund raising event, the
Cerebral Palsy Association also
carries on a major public
education campaign in schools
throughout the County.
Library Budget
Hearing Tuesday
The Farmingdale Public
Library Board of Trustees will
hold its regular monthly board
meeting on May 10, 1977 at 8: 30
P. M. at the South Farmingdale
Branch Library- At that time, the
Trustees have scheduled a public
budget hearing on the 1977- 78
budget.
The library tax appropriation
will be voted on by the electorate
on June 15.
The East Islip School District is
spearheading the group suit
against the state. Farmingdale
will contribute $ 3,500 to the legal
suit fund to join the joint action.
If the suit is successful, the
school district would be able to
recoup losses in tax due to the
MTA takeover of Republic Field.
The board also accepted, with
regret, the letter of retirement of
Acting- Superintendent of Schoo
Charles Manso. Manso, wh
served as assistant superintendent
to Dr. William A. Kin-zler,
became the acting
superintendent after Dr. Kinzler
moved to California last summer.
Manso's retirement will be
effective July 1.
Charles L. Manso
Members of the Farmingdale
Civil Service Employees
Association again picketed in
front of Farmingdale High School
prior to the board meeting as
they did last month. They have
been working and negotiating
without a contract for the past
eight months.
The main point of contention
involves six holiday days that the
board claims are not in the
working contract, but were
granted by the superintendent of
schools. The number of holidays
in the present contract is also not
clear, but it is approximately 14
days. The number of actual
holidays per year is a matter of
contention, depending on the
school calendar. It ranges from a
claimed 14 1/ 2 to 23 days. The
board wants* CSEA members to
give up six of these " traditional"
