29th HOMECOMING DAY
Doris Deuble
Saturday, October 28th marked
the 29th Annual Homecoming Day
of L. I. A. T. I. From early morn-ing
to late at night the campus
rang with an air of festivity and
gayness. Old school friends met
once again to retell their stories
and present day students were
brought to realize they were ex-periencing
some of the best years
of their lives today.
The Alumni marveled at some of
the changes their Alma Mater had
undergone during the past few
years. New buildings have been
added and they found more women
on campus, too.
Even the football team caught
the air of excitement when they
trounced Leicester 38-0. The Soc-cer
team followed suit by winning
over CCNY 2-0 and the Track team
did equally well by coming first
over Adelphi and N. Y. State Tech.
The evening festivities started
out with a bonfire where old grad-uates
and new students joine^l in
singing the ever popular songs of
yesterday and today,
Knapp Hall, dressed up in gay
Fall colors, was the scene of one
of the school year's biggest social
events, "The Homecoming Dance".
Here the girls showed up in their
finest attire and each one looked
as if she stepped straight from
the pages of "Vogue". One of the
most striking styles was the strap-less
flounce.
Faculty and students were all on
hand to welcome the Alumni back
to their Alma Mater—Long Island
A. & T. The smiling faces and
laughter of the Alumni was evi-dence
enough of the success of the
1950 Homecoming Day.

YOU CAN BE DEFERRED
Mr. McLoufjhlin informed this
newspaper that at present LIATI
students will not be called to selec-tive
service for at least the aca-demic
year. Those who have left
the Institute either wanted to be
drafted or were in the reserves.
Nothing so far is known about
what happens during summer va-cation
as apparently you can be
drafted at that time.
As far as the reserves go, t he
school can do nothing. If a reserve
is called he should file his request
for delay immediately and also no-tify
the school office about it. A
request for leave of absence from
school should also be handed in to
the office at this time. The Mar-ines
are granting just a minimum
delay while the Navy is more lax.
The Army and the Air Force, on
the other hand, are unpredictable
(it depends on your unit). If any
question comes up, do not hesitate
to see the administrators.
