TOP CROWD AT COLWTRY LIFE-OPEN HOUSE;
Dental Hygiene
Exhibits
Along with many other depart-ments,
the DH department put
on a fine exhibition for Open
House. Both the Freshman and
Senior classes contributed to-ward
its success.
The Freshmen girls demon-strated
methods and steps in the
carving of teeth from wax, and
one stage in the dental prophy-loxis,
namely^ polishing, teeth.
This was accomplished on mani-kins.
In addition to this, a girl
was in the Bacteriology lab to
explain to the public what was
being done in class, and she
showed various equipment used
in the laboratory. Also, different
bacteriological slides of interest
were on display under the mi-croscopes
for the public to see.
Many of the dental health post-ers,
recently made by the Fresh-man
girls, were on exhibit in the
newly painted DH classroom.
The Seniors gave free pro-phylaxis
and free x-rays to any
one who wanted them. There
were also demonstrations of den-tal
lab technics which included
the steps in the construction of
full upper and lower artificial
dentures, A series of models de-picted
steps necessary in making
gold inlays and crowns. Another
feature of the demonstration was
a shadowbox of colored slides
pathologic conditions in mouths.
These conditions were the result
of untended sores or lesions in
the mouth. "Mr. Bonepart" (our
skeleton) was in plain view
supervising the activities.
