Many of the curriculums had
a hand in organizing this show.
Mr. Waite, who is chairman of
the assembly committee asked
Mr. Halls along with two teach-ers
in the building construction
and electrical technology section
to aid in the various parts of the
program.
Mr. Halls, an art instructor,
turned his part of the project
over to the students of the art
and technical secretarial adver-tising,
who belonged to his elec-tive,
Graphic Arts. The art di-rectors
were Theresa Steinis
and Dennis Punnichi. Dennis
was also in charge of designing
the programs.
Before these students started
work on the large backdrops,
they made a small sketch which
is a duplicate. This duplicate
will be exhibited in the showc^^^

Angels. The students credited
with these panels incllde Scala,
Jones, Schwab, Madden, Hinds,
Kennady, Marrinchets, Smith,
Kihler and Petersen among
many others.
Students in the Building Con-striction
classes made wooden
frames in which thfe paintings
fit. Lighting was done by the
electriral technology section.
The participation in this show
by many students makes it a
more enjoyable assembly with
the true rejoicing of Christmas.
Christmas Dance
Presented By NAG
The Snowball which was pre-sented
by the NAG turned out
to be one of the biggest dances
of the \oar.
It was held at the American
Legion Hall in Lindenhurst on
Herbert Avenue just off Well-wood
Avenue.
Th(> music of Mark Elliot and
his band lasted from 8:30 to the
wee ho'irs of the morning. Cur-few
was extended for the girls
living at the dorm until 2:00.
The highlight of the evening
was at 11:00 P.M. when the
queen was crowned. Door prizes
were also given out at that time.

Larger than life size, the^'real-istic

under the supervision of

of the art faculty. The figures
which are modeled in the Med-ieval

an intensive study of Religious
Paintings was made. In addition
to the holy Family, there is a
shepherd and three wise men.

Our four person delegation
found that our brief, but very
informative trip to Cortland,
New York swept away many old
ideas about running our year-book

At this meeting, we found that

thatching on the walls and roof
of the stable, which adds greatly
to the realism of the scene, is
done with reeds gathered by
Horticulture students along the
south shore near Jones Beach.
Lighting is taken care of by the
staff, which sets up flood lights
to give proper and effective il-lumination.
Originally t h e creche was
placed on the lawn near Mel-ville

popularity of the scene it was
necessary to move it back from
the road. It is now placed on
the lawn near the flagpole di-rectly
in front of the Adminis-tration
Building and it is ex-pected
that this will be its per-manent
position.
As a service for interested
people who are curious about
the construction of the scene, or
for organizations or churches
who wish to erect a similar crib,
the Institute issues a brief des-cription
of the scene and a little
bit of the history surrounding it.
