Many of the sidewalks in this vil¬ lage are beautified by trees, /but in many cases the branches hang down over the sidewalks causing annoyance , to pedestrians and danger to those' abroad at night. A little trimming : here and there would help greatly.

The new bridge west* of Heben¬ streit's Hotel on the Merrick Road is finished. It is of concrete and steel construction and is the work of con¬ tractor Edwin H. Payne. Wide seats on each side are a feature for foot passengers who may be weary.

Town Board
A petition from Columbia Engine Company of Oceanside was presented to the Town Board Monday, asking that the two companies of Oceanside form a department and so .collect the tax from Insurance agents. As there are three companies in Oceanside, and as there aeems some question whether they would all qare to be taken into the department, the Board deferred action, meanwhile consulting counsel as to tbeir rights to consent to such an organization.
