The committee of firemen con.siAting of First Assistant Chief Van Riper, William Ck)mell and Archer B. Wallace are busy going over the plans for the new fire alarm system which the voters will be asked to install in Freeport. The Bvstem will consist of alarm boxes placed, at different parts of the village which will have glass doors covering a lever wrhich, when pulled, will auto¬ matically sound an alarm and at the same time ring an eighteen-inch bell, to be placed in front of every fire house and which will be heard throughout the village in connection with another alarm signal to work in conjunction with these separate signals.
Manufacturers of these systems have been in the village this week, explain¬ ing their methods.
There is nothing so much needed at the present time as an efficient fire alarm system. Freeport residents are awake to the necessity of this and will read with interest the report of.^the I ings from 7 to 9. committee on the matter. ' —

Mem¬ bership is open to all who are in favor of securing incorporation at the earliest possible moment, and who will lend their efforts to the accom¬ plishment of this effort. Public meetings are lield every Wednesday at Seaman's Hall, at 8 P. M. All are' invited to attend. Incorporation is the sole object of thc association, after which it shall cease to exist.

Says the New York World: "A big and very black crow was hit by a trol¬ ley car near Baldwin, L. I., yester¬ day (Tucsday) morning. .A heavy wind was blowing; the car was going very fast: the crow became confused; the car hit it and broke its wing. Walter Johnson, the conductor, stopped the car, chased the bird, caught it, got bit in the finger for his pains, and took it home to his barn in Hempstead. He says be will teach it to kill mice in the barn and to talk. When it learns to express itself it may tell Johnson what it thinks of him and his car.

Dogs Attack Womaa
Wcdnc-sday morning, DeccMhcr i; a woman, evidently a foreigner, unable to speak English, was attacked bv three vicious dogs while crossing Main St.. near Lena .Ave. These dogs have heen left by a family which recently moved from this neighborhood and have been roaming about the neighbor¬ hood for .several .lays. The woman was scratched and bitten and finally knocked down and her clothing torn before help arrived. C. E. Thomas and Raymond Barker succeeded in driving off the brutes as thcy were rea<ly to spring upon the prostrate woman. She was assisted to the home of Mr. Thomas, Main St. and Lena Ave, where her wounds were dressed and other, clothing furnished her by Mrs. Chase of North Main St., so that she could go to her home on Sea¬ man Ave. Her own dress and shawl were torn to pieces and she suffered from "shock.

The Bvstem will consist of alarm boxes placed, at different parts of the village which will have glass doors covering a lever wrhich, when pulled, will auto¬ matically sound an alarm and at the same time ring an eighteen-inch bell, to be placed in front of every fire house and which will be heard throughout the village in connection with another alarm signal to work in conjunction with these separate signals. Manufacturers of these systems have been in the village this week, explain¬ ing their methods. There is nothing so much needed at the present time as an efficient fire alarm system. Mem¬ bership is open to all who are in favor of securing incorporation at the earliest possible moment, and who will lend their efforts to the accom¬ plishment of this effort.
