4987, Bethpage held a special
Remembrance of Pearl Harbor Day,
on Dec. 7. 2009 at Rotary Circle.
A terrible happening in the histo-ry
of our beloved United States of
America happened on a Sunday
morning 68 years ago, when every-one
would have been going to
church. A surprise attack on the har-bor
of Hawaii, where our warships
were anchored and also an attack on
military housing and airfields by the
Japanese. The death toll was about
1200 civilians and another 1177 of
our military, mostly Navy. The
destruction totaled many of our
ships including the Battleship
Arizona.
President Roosevelt declared war
immediately and the greatest war
took place, " World War II." Millions
were killed from many nations.
The United States became
involved in the War due to the
bombing of our Hawaiian Islands on
Dec. 7th, 1941.
The VFW in Bethpage had only

Frances Meehan Selected as 2010
St. Patrick's Day Parade Grand Marshal
Francis Meehan is congratulated by Commmittee President John Joyce and 2009
Grand Marshal John Eastwood
The Bethpage St. Patrick's Day Committee has selected Francis Meehan, a 50
year resident of Bethpage as the 2010 Grand Marshal.
Francis is one of twelve children and father of seven. Francis served in the Army
for 11 yeap, including tours in Germany, Italy and New York. He was awarded the
Victory Medal for the end of WWII and a certificate of achievement from the 17th
A. E. B. After his service in the Army, Francis worked for both Dugan's Bakery and
Sealtest/ Dellwood Dairy before joining Grumman Aerospace in Bethpage where he
worked for over 20 years. In 1992 he joined Jaco Bus company where he continues
to work. In addition to receiving their Employee of the Month Award, he has been
awarded the Hicksville Middle School Safety Award and Our Lady of Mercy
Recognition Award. Francis has served his community ( Continued Inside)
