Appeal From
Football Association
For Needed Funds
Dear Readers of the Bethpage Tribune,
On behalf of our organization (the Bethpage Midget
Football Association) we appeal to you as a member of our
community for financial aid.
Our organization has been in existence for about 15 years
teaching youngsters ages 7-12 from our town and the
surrounding area the AMERICAN SPORT - FOOTBALL.
Within the last four years we have included in our Athletic
program LACROSSE. Both our programs are part of the
geater Long Island Midget Leagues, which follow strict
guidelines for safety.
We have approximately 125 young boys in all our
programs. We feel that we are teaching more than an athletic
activity, we are teaching them loyalty towards there town,
respecting others thru team work which is essential in
preparing for their future and that of America.
Lacrosse is currently in progress and Football
membership starts June 9th. In the past our non-profit
organization was able to survive on parents membership fees
alone. But INFLATION has taken its toll.and the survival of
our organizajipn is threatened with insurance costs, uniform,
referee .jfej^f transportation costs and we find it is impossible
to cbhtmuela complete program without aid from EACH
RESIDENT OF OUR COMMUNITY.
Therefore, I am appealing to each of you for any donation
you can give to your town league. Remember your
contribution is tax deductable.- Someone once said "Charity
starts at home". In recogniMpn/for Jfefcontribution we can
only give you our sincere thartks |ncf'pledge that we will
make you proud of us this season as we have done in the past.
Please make contributions to Bethpage Association of
Midget Football (B.A.M.F.Q.) in either a check or money
order form. Send to B.A.M.F.O., P.O. Box 147, Bethpage,
New York 11714.
Sincerely,
Ted Agrillo
B.A.M.F.O. President
It's Time For
"Operation Clean-Up"
It's cleanup time in Bethpage and the same faithful legions
with the same troops and some new helpers will do their best
to polish up our somewhat neglected little hamlet. Boy Scouts
Troops 604 and 603; Cub Scout Pack 603; Senior Girl Scout
Troop 3033 and Cad. 3049; the little 4H kids and Bethpage
F.D. Juniors make up the front line legions at this time. We
meet at the P.B.C. parking lot at 9 A.M. and usually end up
between 12:30 and 1:00 noon. Some Boy Scouts will continue
till about 3:00 in the afternoon till completion.
What is needed is the Community's cooperation, swept
sidewalks on Broadway and in the Shopping Center and home
owners are urged to tidy up their bailiwicks. Interested folk
whocare to join the cleanup effort, please call Susan Dunne at
935-2824. All help is welcome.
Sponsored by the Bethpage Rotary Club which is grateful
for and recognizes the community spirit of these young
people and their most helpful and competent Leaders.
Refreshments, as usual will be served on Completion of the
project.
